Stacey Leilua

Stacey Leilua is a graduate of the UNITEC School of Performing and Screen Arts in Auckland, where she majored in Acting. Over her twenty-year career in the Performing Arts, she has developed extensive experience in writing, directing, presenting, and producing.

Of Māori (Waikato Tainui, Ngaati Te Ata Waiohua) and Samoan (Fusi Safotulafai, Papa Sataua) descent, Stacey has worked as a presenter for Māori Television’s Homai Te Paki Paki, hosted a Pacific Arts segment for Niu FM, and recorded Maria Samuela’s short stories Love Rules for Radio New Zealand.

She is a proud member of the ensemble casts for Wild Dogs Under My Skirt and most recently, The Savage Coloniser Show, for which Stacey won the 2024 Wellington Theatre Award for Outstanding Performance. Stacey also played the role of Ata Johnson in the NBC series Young Rock, earning a Hollywood Critics Association Award nomination for her performance (which included live singing and ukulele playing). Most recently, she creatively produced the NZ Opera production, The Monster in the Maze.

Stacey is skilled in Māori and Pasifika pronunciation and voiced the audiobook for Tina Makereti’s novel The Mires.
