Laura Hitchon is a full time radio announcer on North Canterbury’s Compass FM and previously worked in metro radio as Client Service Manager and Promotions Coordinator at Mediaworks Canterbury.
Laura is also a qualified Journalist and has a Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism from the University of Canterbury and Bachelor Of Broadcasting Communications from the New Zealand Broadcasting School. During her time in radio, Laura has voiced hundreds of advertisements, live crossovers and MC’ed numerous events, including half-time ground announcing for Super 14 rugby. Laura narrated a show on ThreeNow (formerly TV3) called L Plates: Mum, can i drive, presented a TV show on Canterbury TV (CTV) called Visitor Television and acted in a couple of TV advertisements for Pak N Save (nationwide) and Topp Realty (Christchurch).

Laura has her own home studio and uses an SE2200 microphone with pop filter and isolation screen. She uses Audacity to edit her audio.
